HISTORY

Beginning : The Full Gospel Trust of India is a registered charity trust of the Govt of India. It started with a small group in 1994 which began to work among the slums of Delhi and in North-West Delhi in particular. It all began with the vision of one man who has spent the most part of his life working with the underprivileged section of the society. In 1994, after he stepped out from a leadership position in the World Vision of India, the idea took shape to form an organization that will work among the slums and do missionary work in places where there is no church. In 1995 the mission was registered as The Full Gospel Trust of India. The ministry has since expanded to many unreached regions in North India, stretching from the eastern coast of Orissa to Gujarat in the Western coast. In all we have about 15 churches at present and more are in the making.

Testimony:

Abraham Sahu was born and grew up in a Christian family in the steel city of Jamshedpur (near Calcutta),  located in the state of  Bihar, North India. He accepted Jesus as His Lord and Saviour in 1973 and pursued his studies in Science and in Personnel Management until he received a call from the Lord through a vision to work in North India. At that point in time, he was poised to join a large organisation as a Manager. However, obedient to the Lord, he joined World Vision of India in 1980 and worked among the poor and needy in North India till 1994.

This was a time of training and challenges. It was also a time when the call and vision to North India were strengthened. Actively involved as a leader with Delhi Bible Fellowship, the Lord used him, especially among the poor,  the youth and  in church planting.

The Projects that we are Involved In :

  • Free Medical Clinics .
  • Educational Project for children .
  • Adult Education for elderly and women .
  • Handicap Rehabilitation Program .
  • Sustainable Developmental Program including income generation Program for the weaker section of the society and women in particular.

THE MORE WE GET INVOLVED, THE GREATER THE NEED WE SEE.

Officially, there are 1600 slums in Delhi. There are plans to reach out to these - the urban poor in partnership with others.  We hold awareness programs on various social issues like drug addiction,  alcohol, women's rights, Disability, and community development . Educating the children living in the slum is one of our successful projects, where we have young men and women teaching these children and helping them grow as better individuals and responsible citizens of our land India.
